Back in the day, “Hollywood” meant, simply, Hollywood, California. That was then. In 2013 Freida Pinto is a poster child for Hollywood’s new, everywhere identity: The 28-year-old shoots in Morocco (for the upcoming Desert Dancer), sits front row at Fashion Week in Milan, and, in her downtime, hops between her hometown of Mumbai, London, and, yes, L.A. “Hollywood’ for me is my travels; it’s mobile,” says Pinto, who swears by Ayurvedic Marma energypoint massage, sleep…and humility. “Thank God I’m not perfect,” she says. “I’m not claiming to be the most beautiful girl, so I don’t have to show up looking like one.” Actually, Freida—we think you show up great. Details of the red-carpet transformation we witnessed in Cannes, where Pinto was helping represent L’Oréal Paris and hanging out with Julianne Moore and Fan Bingbing:

The waves
Hairstylist Stéphane Lancien twists various-size sections of Pinto’s hair around a curling iron, adds hairspray, then clips the coils to her head. Once they’re cooled, he unpins them and runs a Mason Pearson brush misted with hairspray through to nix flyaways. “I’m pretty hopeless with my hair,” says Pinto. “All credit goes to my team!”
