They say you can’t beat a classic, but one of the biggest hair color trends heading down the tracks for autumn proves that, actually, you can. Bronze hair is here to take brunettes to the next level, and it’ll give complexions a boost in the process. We like those credentials a lot.
With the days set to get shorter and darker, we need something to add a little glow back into our appearance, and bronze hair does exactly that. Even better (good news for the minimalists), it’s nothing too crazy. Instead it’s a simple wearable tweak that makes hair look phenomenal and brightens skin during dreary winter. The warm, luminous tones act like a built-in ring light, especially when applied in face-framing sections.
And, if you’ve been on the fence about whether to try something more drastic, it nods to the metallic copper hair trend vibe that’s also massive this season, but in a more low-key, timeless way.
We spotted a phenomenal rendition of the hair color created by pro hairstylist James Earnshaw, who makes a good point. “Not all transformations have to be overly creative,” he says. “Sometimes something simple and gorgeous is enough.”

To keep it modern, we’ve seen a rooty bronze emerge as the way to wear it. By incorporating it balayage-style through hair, it means the upkeep is far more low-maintenance, and it can grow out much more softly without leaving tide lines.

We’re also fans of switching it up with dip-dye ends or ombré gradients, or halo it around your hairline with bronze money-piece highlights.

Tactical highlights can lick the ends of coils and curls with pretty bronze accents to emphasize beautiful texture and movement while adding extra warm tones.

And, if you want to take the trend a step further (we always do), you can match bronze hair to your makeup with toasted lip colors and and molten metallics on eyes.
